First Week of Summer

Last week was our first week of summer! We took a trip to Honey and Papa Tom's house. Friday, Rylie and I hit up the park and pool. She definitely loved the pool. Here are some pictures of the park.

Friday night we drove to Ardmore to watch Cousin Jon graduate. This was the first time Rylie has really been out in the heat for any period of time. We had been there maybe 10 minutes and I could see little beads of sweat on her nose. She looked at me with a really serious face and said "Dress off momma! Hot!" I had to explain to her that mommy was hot too but taking our dresses off was not an option! Needless to say we had to excuse ourselves for a bit to go play in the grass. We did make it back to our seats to see Jon walk across the stage.

Saturday we drove back over to Ardmore for a BBQ. Rylie liked seeing everyone and snagging cheese balls off the food table. She did not like it when Honey held another baby. I heard her across the room saying, "Honey no down!"

Sunday we went back to the park. We ate a picnic then played in the park.

My favorite part of the trip was when Honey taught Rylie how to say I Love You. She will now say it back to us and it melts my heart! She will also randomly say it and then smile and reach out for a big hug! I love it. I'll try to get a video of that up soon.

Friday of last week we met Nana and Papa Shupe at the Wichita Zoo. I am so sad we both forgot our cameras. Rylie did love it. She rode in her red wagon and seemed to really look at the animals.

While we were at Honey house, Bear was busy busy. He and his buddies (and Uncle Brett) built us a deck! We love it! When Bear told me his plans I had no idea it was going to be so great. I will have to post pictures of the deck in my next post.
I think that wraps up our first week of summer....We have lots of fun to look forward to like seeing the Kenley's, Mommy running a race, and our Shupe family vacation!

Ahh..Sweet Summertime!

Summer is here. I am so excited to spend the long summer days playing with Rylie Bug. Today was our first day and she must have known because she slept in until 8:15!
We have lots of fun things planned for the summer. We leave tom. for Honey and Papa's house to go watch cousin Jon graduate.

This is just so I can remember later...On Monday, Rylie Bug woke up holding her ear. She looked up at me and said "Help me momma."
A trip to the doctor later we found out Ry has her first ear infection. The meds seem to be knocking it out. I am so thankful we made it 18 months without one!
Rylie is a talker...I am sure she gets this from both Bear and I. She says the funniest little phrases. These are just a few of my favorites...
"Hold you momma"
"I will do dat"
"Come on momma"
"Hey Jo Jo"
"Come on Grady Man"
"I will hold it"
"No barking puppies"
"Aggie come food"
"Ger wagon horsey"
"Who made this mess"

This is my favorite. Every morning at a crazy hour, Bear goes and drinks coffee with his best friend from High school. So Rylie will say "Daddy Darren coffee!"

No Horsey!

We took Rylie to the carnival this weekend. She loved the horses when we took her to the Kay County Fair. I just knew she would love it....WRONG!

I will do that...

Rylie's favorite thing to tell me...."I will do that"

This last one is the egg hunt. Rylie was totally uninterested in picking up the eggs. She just took off looking for friends!

Sick Momma

This weekend was so weird! Friday I had the day off so Rylie and I went shopping. We went to Target, had a picnic in the park, and went to Kohls. On the drive home I started feeling really sick. From Friday evening to Sunday around 9 in the morning I was out of commission. I couldn't even get out of bed!
Bear did a GREAT job with Rylie. I could hear their conversations from the bedroom. They played, visited friends, napped together. Bear even put a bow in Rylie's hair when they went to eat Saturday night. These two are BIG BUDDIES!

Easter

I love this kid...

Bear recently taught Rylie about pockets. She will spend five minutes or so trying to cram her chubby little fingers (which I love!) into her pockets. Then she will walk around with a smirk...

Rylie loved this space ship sucker Honey was letting her have until Daddy woke up from his nap and assessed the situation. Apparently, I failed to tell Honey the Shupe stance on hard candy... Sorry Rylie Bug!

Speaking of the Shupe's...here is a picture of Papa Shupe and Nana. Rylie loves when they come over.

Spring Break

The best part of Spring Break? Cuddling with Rylie Bug on the couch. Rylie will walk over to the couch and say"cuddle me cuddle me cuddle me momma."

And when she does this...I am in heaven.
Really what better way to spend a week off of work than with your 2 favorite people.

Full recap coming soon including :
Honey coming to visit
Rylie tries bell peppers and a sucker
Nana and Papa visit
A trip to the playground
The BIG slide

Uh...March?

Ok..so I have no good excuse for not posting almost the entire month of Feb. other than we have been busy playing and working. Our exciting news of the month is that Rylie is walking. I think seeing her wobble around the house is just about the cutest thing I have ever seen. We had our 15mo well-check. Rylie is still in the 90th percentile for height! We also learned at that visit that Rylie is not a fan of the site of her own blood!
Our biggest "Rookie Parent Move" of the month was introducing Rylie to the laptop. When she was sick we showed her the "Wiggles" on you tube. UH....Not the best idea. We listen to "tugga tugga choo choo big red car" about 15 times a day. Gone are the nights of surfing the web while Rylie played with her toys nearby....
